He was predeceased by: his parents, Russell, Sr. Smith and Frances Smith Sr. (DeWitt). He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Smith (Eichholz); his children, Timothy Smith (Jennifer) and Tamera Miller (Mark); his grandchildren, Kelsey Larkin (Keith), Wesley Smith (Shelbi), Jonathon Watson, Adam Watson (Jenna), Matthew Watson and Katharine Watson (Christian); and his stepgrandsons, Mark Miller Jr. (Christine) and Michael Miller (Kelly). He is also survived by nine great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
