He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Sherwood and Blanche Sherwood (Harman); and his sisters, Eleanor Sherwood and Janice S. Goza. He is survived by: his wife Shirley Smith (Laughlin) of Carbondale; his children, William Sherwood (Joan) of Carbondale, Richard Sherwood of Willard, MO, Robert Sherwood (Robin) of Aurora, MO and Linda Thornton (Monte) of Decatur; and his former wife Malvia F. Sherwood. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Veterans Honor Flight of Southern Illinois or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
