He was predeceased by: his parents, Garland Shelby and Mary Shelby (Ferrell); and his brother Edward E. Shelby. He is survived by: his wife Avah Shelby; his children, Melanie Nelson (Philip), James Mark Shelby (Julie) and Scott Shelby; and his grandchildren, Lydia Nelson, Moriah Puckett, Hannah Pellman (Nicholas), Rebekah McNeely (Brandon), Peter Nelson (Heather), Catherine Allison (Jason), Megan Miller (Paul), Ashley Reed and Eric Reed. He is also survived by fifteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jack's name to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering of the International Mission Board and will be accepted at the church. Memorial contributions may also be made online atlakelandcarbondale.com.
