Gary Dale Beasley Obituary
Gary Dale Beasley, age 77, of Crab Orchard, IL, went to be with his heavenly Father on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 2:43 p.m. in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, IL.
Gary was born on May 3, 1946, in Williamson County, Illinois, a son of Loren Ray and Stella Mae (Bundren) Beasley. He was united in marriage to Charlotte Gail Ramsey on November 2, 1973 at Walnut Hill Freewill Baptist Church in Crab Orchard, IL, and together they have shared nearly 50 years of marriage.
He proudly answered the call of his nation and served his country in the United States Army stationed in Okinawa during the Vietnam War. After returning home from the War, he worked for a period of time at Allen Industries in Herrin, IL, until he went to work in the coal mines. His career in the coal industry started at Zeigler #4 Coal Company where he worked for several years before moving to the Brushy Creek Coal Mine. There, he worked for many more years, eventually retiring in 1997.
Gary loved God with all his heart and was an ordained minister through the American Missions Team. He went to Bible college at ICBT in Norris City, earning his Bachelor's degree, and went on to teach Bible college classes at various churches. Gary was involved in various types of ministry work throughout his lifetime. He pastored the Church of God in Paulton, IL, a home church in Thompsonville, IL, co-pastored The Cathedral of Answered Prayer in Marion, IL, served several churches and went on mission trips through the AMT to the Ukraine, Costa Rica and Nicaragua, where he helped set up Bible colleges in churches. He also loved serving the Lord through prison ministry, Bible studies, home meetings and intercessory prayer meetings in his home. He taught Sunday School and also did sidewalk Sunday School.
The Lord and his family were what were most important in Gary's life. He cherished his Sunday dinners with his family as they held hands and prayed together thanking the Lord for the meals. He had provided them. Some of his favorite dishes, especially were the broccoli casserole and chicken and dumplings. Gary was a proud husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He was an avid bird watcher and sports enthusiast. He loved to read and in his younger days loved fishing, hunting and camping. He was smart, kindhearted and witty and particularly loved to tease his grandchildren.
