He is survived by: his wife Laura Van Abbema of Carbondale; his father George William Haney; his stepmother Sylvia Beck of Greensboro, NC; his siblings, David Haney of Lawrence, KS and Dawn Haney (Paul Engelhardt) of Oak Park; his stepsisters, Liz Spidell and Lori Jarrett; his uncle Roland Kratzner; his aunt Judy Kratzner; his nephews, Linus and Benjamin Engelhardt; his cousins, Julie, Mark and Jonathan Kratzner (Nicole); his mother-in-law Cheryl Van Abbema; and his pet Pinky.
Some of his final Facebook posts regarded collaboration with his dear friend Bernard to design and make facemasks to fight the spread of Covid-19.
