He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Vincent Thomas and Harriet Irene Phillips (Boone); his wife Frances Phillips; his daughter Pamela Marie Phillips; and his grandson Chad Rushing.
He is survived by: his children, Julie Phillips of DeSoto, Christopher Phillips of Fort Worth, Texas, Timothy Phillips of Murphysboro and Clifford "Chip" (Tina Phillips) of West Frankfort, Illinois; and his brother Timothy Phillips of Springfield, Illinois.. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren and many other relatives and dear friends.
