It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Audrey Thornton Jr. of Carbondale, Illinois, born in Columbia, Missouri, who passed away on December 4, 2022, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his mothers, Audrey Thornton and Zella Thornton; his wife Ruth Thornton; his son Deric Thornton; and his brothers, Ronald Thornton and Robert Lee Thornton.
He is survived by: his children, Eddie Thornton of Columbia, Jonah Ganaway (Jenny) of Columbia, Gina Johnson of St. Louis and Dana Bursey of Carbondale; his siblings, Earnestine of Columbia, Barbara Freeman of Des Moines, Earlene Thornton (Kenneth), Elsie Thornton of Columbia, George Thornton (Idenia), Steven Thornton and Michael Thornton of Columbia; his sister-in-law Gail Thornton of Columbia; and his grandchildren, Dvarrio McKee of St. Louis and Alexis Johnson of St. Louis. He is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
