He was predeceased by: his parent Belmont Ray; his stepfather Boyd Bailey; his brother-in-law Butch Tolbert; and his grandparents, Frank, Goldie Vickers, William and Virginia Sarten.
He is survived by: his mother Nellie Peyton (Vickers); his children, Virginia Peyton of Canton, Stacey Peyton of Canton, Jeremy Peyton (Katie) of Quincy, Jason Peyton (December) of Mendon and Stephenie Hickman (Chad) of Ursa; his grandchildren, Rilee, Caden, Addison, Amelia, Alexander, Asher, Dagyn, Zayden, Aiden, Jason Jr., Bella, Kaija, Gracelynn, Lyberty, Maycelynn and Harley; his sisters, Connie Tolbert of Huntington, WV and Kathy Nelson (Butch) of Ona, WV; his nieces, Makala Adkins and Tracy Harding; his great-nephews, Benny Adkins and Ezan Harding; his aunt Thelma; his uncle Burti Butcher; and his close friend Paul Edmondson.
A graveside service was held on Tuesday, February 4th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Illinois Veteran's Home (1707 N 12th St, Quincy, IL 62301).
