He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer L. Hale and Lola Frieda Hale (Taylor); his wife Florence Evelyn McClelland; his daughter Leigh Ann Bollinger; his great grandchild Hannah Brooke Agans Barnewolt; his son-in-law Rodney R. Skiles; and his siblings, Donald Hale and Rubie Trone.
He is survived by: his daughters, Donna Sue Skiles of Normal and Doris Jean Agans of Camden; his grandchildren, Suzette Skiles Rice of Rushville, Cherie Skiles of Spring Hill, Heather Agans, Haley Kelly (Chad) of Rushville and Christopher Bollinger of Worthington; his great grandchildren, Andrew Rice, Mallory Bowman, Katie Bollinger, Ashley Bollinger, Lance Kelly and Paxton Kelly; and his siblings-in-law, JoAnn Hale of Berwick, Carol McClelland of Arkansas and Vernon Greene of Bellville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
