He was predeceased by: his father Robert James Nie Sr.. He is survived by: his mother Jane Nie (Hoenicke); his wife Laura Nie (Wiebers); his daughters, Katherine Holter (Benjamin) and Elizabeth Nie (Zachary Covey); his grandsons, Landon and Owen Holter; and his siblings, Shawn Seelye (Steve), Leah Imhoff (Gerry) and Bruce Nie (Chris Van Rhein). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews.
