She was predeceased by: her parents, H. Reid Nelson and Marian Nelson (Petersen); her children, Nathan Elwood Breidenbach and Mollie Ann Breidenbach; and her brother Larry Nelson.

She is survived by: her former husband Larry Breidenbach (Tim Michelsen) of Sarasota, FL; her children, Amie Oehlberg (Scott) of Sarasota, FL, Katie Nailor (Marlon Tillman) of DeKalb, IL and Jonathan Breidenbach (Lynell) of Morrison, IL; her pet Bitsie Boo; her grandchildren, Zach Nailor (Gloria), Caleb Oehlberg (Kayla Baum), Hannah Oehlberg, Nathan Nailor, Lily Nailor and Tegan Breidenbach; her brother Douglas Nelson (Mary Ann) of Clinton, IA; and her son-in-law Dana Nailor of DeKalb, IL. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A memorial has been established to the Ronald McDonald House of Iowa City, IA.
