With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Barbara A. Walker of Butler, Illinois, born in Palmyra, Illinois, who passed away on October 5, 2023 at the age of 86. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Ralph Barnett and Christina Barnett (Bateman); her husband Donald Walker; her son Randall Eugene Walker; her grandson Benjamin Ballhurst; and her brother Jessie Barnett.

She is survived by: her daughters, Debra A. Compton (Roger) of Edwardsville, Wendy Ballhurst of Butler, Brenda L. Krieger (Bill) of Ft. Myers, FL and Diane L. Walker of Edwardsville; her grandchildren, Ryan, Scott, Dustin, Rachel Compton and Nicholas Ballhurst; and her half-sister Lyla Ahrens of Breeze, Illinois.. She is also survived by 8 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be directed to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

“Sending prayers, condolences and sympathy to the family of Barb Walker. May her memory always be a blessing to the family and friends. Barb and Don were my best friends since the 1950's. We enjoyed many fun times together both in Illinois and California. Barb always remembered me tearing off the labels of the food cans in their cabinet while they were on their honeymoon at Big Bear Lake. They ate many "surprise meals" until all the previously purchased cans of food had been consumed.”
