He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther N. Barnes and Lois Radcliffe Barnes; his daughter Cynthia Thornton; and his siblings, Lyndall Barnes, Lowell Barnes and Lovina James.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Barnes of Bunker Hill, IL; his children, Luther Barnes of Springfield, IL, John Barnes of Marion, IL, Mike Staples of Springfield, IL, Donna VonLanken (Danny) of Byron, GA, Steven Barnes of Marion, IL and Christopher Barnes (Bev) of Bunker Hill, IL; and his siblings, Larry Barnes, Lonnie Barnes, Pauline Barrett and Jeanette Gray. He is also survived by several grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter.
