He was predeceased by: his parents, John A. Monaghan and Harriet M. Monaghan; and his siblings, Robert W. Monaghan, Lillian J. Walczkowski, Margaret M. Hufford, Catherine E. Beach and Virginia Monaghan.

He is survived by: his wife Patricia F. Monaghan; his children, John A. Monaghan (Abigail), Thomas J. Monaghan (Jennifer J.), Virginia "Ginni" M. Gianneschi (Michael D.) and Dennis P. Monaghan; his grandchildren, Daniel Monaghan, Erin Monaghan, Meghan Monaghan, Matthew Monaghan, Kathleen Monaghan, Joseph Monaghan, Michael Gianneschi (Sarah), Anthony "Tony" Gianneschi (Robyn), James Gianneschi, Patrick Monaghan and Griffin Monaghan; and his great grandchildren, Madison Monaghan, Riley Monaghan, Mackenzie Garren and Blair Monaghan. He is also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
