He was predeceased by: his wife Caryn Kaufman; his parents, Herman Kaufman and Betty Kaufman; and his brother Burt Kaufman. He is survived by: his sons, Michael Kaufman (Mollie) and Benjamin Kaufman (Malia); and his close friend Rona Wolf.
