It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Merle Horwedel of Buda, Illinois, born in Vermont, Illinois, who passed away on November 18, 2020, at the age of 88, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Horwedel and Leona Horwedel (Aten); and his siblings, Harold and Mary Edith. He is survived by: his wife Ruth Ann Powell; his children, Deb Horwedel McCreight of Annandale, MN and Dan Horwedel (Jane) of Fort Wayne, IN.; his grandchildren, Kyle, Kevin McCreight, Carrie Feipel (Drew) and Isaac Horwedel (Ricci); and his great grandchildren, Anna, Bennett and Caleb Feipel.
Due to precautions regarding the coronavirus pandemic, private funeral services will be held with military rights in Vermont, IL, with his brother-in-law Morris McClelland officiating.
Memorials or donations may be made to Bunker Hill Church or the Buda American Legion.
