He was predeceased by: his wife Joan Butler; his son Robert L. Butler (Nancy); his grandson Phillip Butler; and his siblings, Joseph F. Butler, Genevieve Butler and Catherine McNamara (Edward).

He is survived by: his children, Diane Butler, William Butler (late Susan), Edward Butler and Susan Butler; his grandchildren, Joshua Butler (Ashley), Brian Butler, Billy Butler (Marianne), Julie Trnka (Mike), Elizabeth Robins (Daniel), Jessica Butler, Lyle Butler, Melissa McFeters (Nate) and Mary Jennings; and his friend Maureen Smetana.

Visitation was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hitzeman Funeral Home & Cremation Services (9445 31st St, Brookfield, IL 60513). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 16th 2025 at 8:00 PM at the same location.

“We extend our deepest sympathies to Maureen and all of Bob’s family. We met Bob when we sold him a ‘56 Ford. He was familiar with the Shannon Shores area, so he knew right where to find us. We enjoyed spending time with him and Maureen at a few CVA Conventions, and we were amazed at the “spunk” and energy he had. He will be missed by many and we are so glad he called us friends. RIP Bob you earned it!”
