He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Leon Bornes Sr. and Verna Charlene Bornes (Meisenheimer); his son Robert Leon Bornes III; and his brother-in-law Phillip McLaughlin. He is survived by: his children, Deanna Bornes of Sullivan, Jamie Bornes of Brighton, Carla Greenwood of Sullivan, Benton Bornes of Brighton and Damon Bornes of Brighton; his grandchildren, Dianna Turnbough (Nick), Isabella Williams (Drew Tepen), Corey Bornes (Valerie), Trenton Barnett, Logan Bornes, Andrew Biernath and Colton Bornes; his great grandchildren, Salena, Gabe and Bowen; and his sisters, Marion McLaughlin of Alton, Jerri Huckleberry of Alton and Michelle Dickerson of Brighton. He is also survived by nieces; nephews; other extended family and friends.

Memorials may be made to St. Louis Children's Hospital and may be accepted at the funeral chapel.
