We are sad to announce that on March 29, 2024, at the age of 92, Helen Marie Schafer of Brighton, Illinois, born in Alton, Illinois passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James E. Lagemann and Mabel Lagemann (Houghton); her husband David Schafer; her son-in-law Joe Saxton; and her grandsons, Scott King and Grant Schafer.
She is survived by: her children, Janet Saxton of Brighton, Wayne Schafer (Lori) of Brighton, Ann Rempfer (Dave) of Elgin, IL and Sue Swisher (Rork) of St. Charles, MO.; her grandchildren, Melanie King, Blake Brandt, Sabrina Keck, Katelyn Keck, Lexy Schafer, Kye Swisher, Serena Frey and Karlie Swisher; and her great grandchildren, Liam King, Avery Brandt and Addy Brandt.
The family request in lieu of flowers memorials be given to either St. John's UCC, Brighton or Macoupin County 4-H. Gent Funeral Home in Alton is in charge of arrangements.
