He was predeceased by: his parents, R. J. Gaunce and Naomi Henson Gaunce; his wife Barbara J. Stump; and his sisters, Jeanette Gaunce and Jessie Gaunce.
He is survived by: his children, Jason, Sheri Gaunce of Limestone and Kelly Gaunce of Kankakee; his granddaughters, Samantha Gaunce of Limestone and Erika Gaunce of Limestone; and his stepchildren, Jeffrey Lade, David Lade, Joe Lade, Michele Carter and Kristina Lade. He is also survived by nine step-grandchildren; and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Marines Corps League.
