He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Grothoff and Lucy Grothoff (McFarland); his children, Colby Grothoff and Deborah Lammers; and his sister Margaret Morgan.
He is survived by: his mother-in-law Wilma Louise Grothoff (Ferguson); his granddaughter Melissa Knappier (Christopher Greene); his siblings, Clarence Edward Grothoff (Linda) of Mount Vernon and Mildred Zirkelbach of Belle Rive, Illinois; his great grandchildren, Dylan Bruns of Mount Vernon, Devin Bruns of Mount Vernon and Guy Twiggs of Mount Vernon; and his nieces and nephews, Raymond Tolley (Susan), Dave Zirkelbach (Cindy), Jacqueline Rainey (Bill) and Julie Johnson (Mark). He is also survived by eleven great-great-grandchildren.
