He was predeceased by: his parents, George H. Tholen and Dorothy Mae Tholen (Eheart); his brother Marvin Tholen; and his uncle Earl Eheart. He is survived by: his son Merle Tholen Jr.; his daughter-in-law Tammy Morrical-Tholen of Bonfield; his brother Wilmer; his sister-in-law Laura Tholen of Buckley; his grandchildren, Chris Tholen, Gabby Tholen, Rylan Tholen and Scarllett Tholen; his niece Emily; and his nephew Tim Tholen.
Visitation was held on Thursday, February 6th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, February 7th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Kankakee - Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home (1480 W Court St, Kankakee, IL 60901). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 7th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
