He was predeceased by: his parents, Dorothy Gerat and Benedict Gerat; and his brother Richard "Dick" Gerat. He is survived by: his sister Mary Beth Saunders (Roy); his nephew Richard Robert "Ricky" Reynolds; and also Kole Reynolds.
