He is survived by: his children, Lisa Cole (Butch), Angelina Moore (James), Loretta Ayers (Jaime), Shirley Chavez and Luis Chavez (Nancy); his brother Joseph Chavez (Elviria); his grandchildren, Cortney Cole (Trishia), Cody Cole, George Olivas, Andrea Massey (James), Alexis Whited (Tyler), Mia Moore, Candace Halter, Josalyne Orengo, Jakalyne Alexander (Jesse), Joshua Chavez, Jessica Slad (Edward), Sarah Chavez and Luis Chavez Jr.; and his great grandchildren, Landon, Karlee, Lydia, Percyus, Penelope, Axl, Lena, Lilyana, Izabel, Karina, Eli, Gregory, Iyahna, Geno, Jonathon and Edward III. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
