He was predeceased by: his parents, Sardar Kuldeep Singh Sarkaria and Sardarni Sukhjinder Kaur. He is survived by: his children, Karanjit Singh Sarkaria (Melfa Figueiredo Sarkaria), Aman Sarkaria and Pawanjit Susan Sarkaria (Karandeep Sraon); and his grandchildren, Jahn Sarkaria, Sean, Armaan and Laila Sraon.
