He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Orion Thomas and Anna Kober Thomas; his wife Joyce Ann Clark; his sisters, Roseanne Moore and Jean Cleary; his daughters, Stephanie Thomas and Angie Thomas (Brian Kiley); his grandchildren, Carrissa, Chasyn, Jack, Clare and Finnegan; and his great grandchildren, Ari and Zaiden. He was also cherished by friends and boating with his family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Carl S. Martin American Legion Post 635, Normal.
