He was predeceased by: his parents, William Leininger and Evelyn Leininger (Padgett); his brother William Lee "Butch" Leininger; and his in-laws, Rex and Betty Miller.

He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Stengel; his children, Lori Gomez, Scott Leininger and Michael Leininger (Roen); his grandchildren, Josue'Gomez, Austin M. Leininger, Jaden Gomez, Nathan Leininger and Mia Leininger; and his siblings, Don Leininger (Helene), Linda Hagar (Roger) and Gordon Leininger (Janice).
