“My career took me away from Bloomington, but we moved back to retire a few years ago and we reconnected again for frequent breakfasts and the occasional field trip—the last one being a trip west along the river to see the fall colors through a lot of the towns we served as city engineers and lunch at one of the old hangouts. Farewell George, we’ll miss you. John Farnsworth”

“We both ended up as Civil engineers, working together at Farnsworth & Wylie—I got there just before he did so had seniority (to his eternal chagrin). Everything that moves (including a company) has to have an accelerator and a governor, which don’t often work in harmony—l’ll leave it up to you to figure out which was which… The working relationship was stormy at times but, at the end of the day, we both remembered we were brothers and worked things out.”

Neil Finlen wrote a sympathy message

“I was George’s “bratty” little brother (9 years his junior). I went along in the back seat as my parents chauffeured George and his first date to wherever they were going--something for which I don’t think he ever forgave me…. I looked up to George and tagged along at his heels whenever he’d let me. Have fond memories of the family canoe trips where George taught me how to paddle a canoe and clean a walleye.”
