He was predeceased by: his parents, William Scott and Beatrice Scott (Evans); his sisters, Elma Piefer and Nancy Fisher; his great grandchildren, Willow Burroughs and Jace Phinney Morton; and his nephew Doug Blanchard.

He is survived by: his wife Linda Scott; his children, Mary Scott Buckley, Angela Grusy (Burton), Gary Joseph Scott (Chandra) and Steven Phinney; his grandchildren, Cora Burroughs, Cooper Burroughs, Heaven Scott, Amanda Wainwright, William Gatza, Jacob Scott, Gary Joseph Scott Jr., Courtney Fitch and Katlyn Phinney; and his great grandchildren, Aubrey, Timmy, Arianna, Trinitey and Hazel.
