He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis Shickel and Goldie Shickel; and his brother Frank Shickel. He is survived by: his sons, Trent Shickel (Traci), Tadd Shickel (Tobi) of Bloomington, IL and Todd Shickel (Sharon) of Indianapolis, IN; his grandchildren, Rylee, Kaci, Kamdyn, Lawson, Brevan and Zeke; and his siblings, Terry Shickel (Vickie) of Bloomington, IL, Shirley Downen of Bloomington, IL, Sharon O'Brien and Debbie Gillespie (Barry) of El Paso, IL..

In Lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital in memory of Meghan Ummel.
