He was predeceased by: his parents, Stanley H. Heggie and Dona M. Heggie (Dahlhoff); and his brother Karry Heggie. He is survived by: his wife Cathy L. Wasson; his sons, Matthew Heggie (Michelle) of Prattville, AL and Michael Heggie (Laurie) of Normal; his granddaughter Alianna Heggie; his sister Cheryl Isted Murphy (Tim) of Towanda; and his caregivers, Tina, Billie, Natalie, Liz, Lisa, Joel, Tanja, Ashley and Dr. Kumar.

The family has requested no flowers, but that memorial contributions be made to Illinois CancerCare.
