He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Raymond Burns and Marie Burns; his siblings, Sally, Sue and George; his spouse Sandy Dennis; his children, Brian Burns (Melanee), Bill Burns (Nancy), Brad Burns (Julie) and Dana Burns of Bloomington; his grandchildren, Daniel, Emily, Katy, Alex, Josh, Maddy, Matthew, Luke, Jessica, Hannah and Connor; and his great grandchildren, Poppy, Charlotte, Jack, Noah, Asher, Grace and Arjun.

The family requests memorials be made to St. Patrick Church of Merna in Bloomington Illinois.
