Ruth Volz Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruth Volz (Bethalto, Illinois), who passed away on September 20, 2018, at the age of 97, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert G. Unterbrink and Elfleda D. Unterbrink (Short); her former husbands, Harry Hazen and Gilbert Whitten; her husband Raymond Volz; her sister Esther Hazen; her brother-in-law Bruce Hazen; her brother Milton Unterbrink; her brother-in-law Armond "Hutch" Hutchens; her son David Whitten; her nieces, Susan Hutchens and Leigh Ann Unterbrink; her grandson Jeff Whitten; and her nephews, Greg Hazen and Gary Hazen.

She is survived by: her children, Michael Whitten (Susan) of Virginia Beach, Virginia Orrill and Roberta Orrill of East Alton; her siblings, Lynn D. Unterbrink, Joyce Hutchens of Villa Rose and Ray L. Unterbrink (Penny) of Midland, Texas; her sister-in-law Nina Unterbrink of Racine, Wisconsin; and her grandchildren, Jack Orrill of Wood River, Teri Olsen of Wood River, Traci Quigley of Wood River, Michelle Ross Whitten of Toledo, Scott Whitten of Newport News and Lori Whitten Shipps of Stoneham, Massachusetts. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; plus numerous nieces and nephews.
