He was predeceased by: his wife Barbara; his parents, Martha Hans and John Hans; his siblings, John Hans (Elizabeth), Fred Hans and Lillian (Matt Haidinyak); and his brothers-in-law, Bob Utter and Bob Troy.

He is survived by: his children, Angela Hans (Ralf Stuckart), Pamela (Bill Ledvort) and James J. Hans; his grandchildren, Elissa Ledvort (John Kokoris), Brittany Hans (Lance Marchbank), William Ledvort, Andrew Stuckart, Danny Stuckart and Matt Stuckart; his sisters, Helen Utter and Delores Troy; and his sister-in-law Hilda Hans. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
