He was predeceased by: his son Timothy Rich (Amy); and his siblings, Hazel, Paul, Charles, Erskin, Roy, Harold, Elmer "Bud", Deon and Loretta Sue.

He is survived by: his wife Carol; his children, Debbie Brueckman (Leonard), Linda Fantauzzo (Sam) and James Rich Jr. (Michelle); his stepchildren, Michael Nesbitt (Tina), Jeffrey Thoreson (Susanne), Paul Thoreson (Therese) and Lisa Thoreson (Joe Kainz); and his brother Lloyd Leon.

“I am so sorry to hear of Jim's passing. Jim in my opinion was the Best Public Works Worker for the Village Of Berkeley, IL. I knew him for many many years especially when I worked for the Village of Berkeley as a POC Firefighter / EMT. Jim was a great guy, a hard worker and family man. I sure will miss him as well as so many others. Rest In Peace Jim, God will keep him in his care. Rick Zarek”
