It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lyda A. Essen (Benton, Illinois), who passed away on November 7, 2019, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Floyd Thornton and Stella Thornton (Pickett); her brother George Thornton; and her siblings-in-law, Ken Moffitt, Bill Williams, Ben Essen and Barb Williams.
She is survived by: her husband Delbert Essen Jr.; her children, Charles Essen (Rhonda) of Alton, IL, Chris Hagerman (Bob) of Benton, IL and Daniel Essen (Carol) of Fayetteville, AR; her grandchildren, Troy "Cassie" Hagerman, Robby "Samantha" Hagerman, Danny "Lacey" Hagerman and Olivia "Tyler" Owens; her great grandchildren, Gauge, Karcin, Johanna and Everly; her siblings, Louis "Jackie" Thornton of Troy, MO and Linda Moffitt of Yorktown, VA; and her siblings-in-law, Louis "Kathryn" Essen, John "Jeannette" Essen, Roland "Jackie" Essen, Betty Thorton, Rosemary Essen and Dale Evelyn Hickman. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
