He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Doty and Mildred Doty; his wife Ruth Ann; his sons, Greg and Mark Garrett; and his brother-in-law Carl Lyell.

He is survived by: his son Mickey Garrett (Nancy); his sister Zelda Lyell; his granddaughter Karee Garrett-Church (Shawn); and his great grandchildren, Garrett and Griffin Church. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
