It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bert Keelin of Benton, Illinois, who passed away on February 26, 2021, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Bertice Ray and Ora Elsie Smith Keelin; his wife Ruth Janice Droit Keelin of Thompsonville; his daughter Patricia Keelin Kern (Pat); his grandchildren, Melissa Mitchell Richardson (Tim Richardson), Frank Kern (Patricia), Eric Kern, Dr. Brian Kern (Summer), Jason Kern (Janie Simon) and Megan Kern Williams (Chris); his great grandchildren, Gavin, Whitley Richardson, Caden, Charli, Ellsie, Cash, Landon, Hunter and Collin Mark Kern; his son-in-law Mark Kern; his great grandchildren, Kern Williams and Anna Williams; his daughter Karen Keelin Harrison (Greg Harrison); his grandchildren, Christine Harrison Arrington (Josh) and Derek Harrison (Aimee); his great grandchildren, Addison Harrison, Houston, Sebastian Arrington, Jayda, Kierra Harrison, Bryce, Brysa Lindsay, Brandt Ramsey, Joey and Cole Copple; his grandson Jason Harrison; his son Darrell Keelin (Debra "Deb"); his granddaughters, Kay Keelin (Jeremy Brown) and Kaitlyn Kuchar; his sisters, Velma Keelin Hall of St. Charles, MO, Vurble Keelin Mahoney (Robert "Bob), Verna Keelin Gaddis (Raymond) and Dena Lawrence (John); his brother-in-law Bob Hall; and his nephew John Gaddis. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
Due to Health Concerns related to COVID-19: Visitation and Funeral services are limited to 50 people at one time; facial coverings are required; and social distancing should be observed.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks consideration of memorial contributions. Donations may be made to the following charities: Rend Lake College Foundation: Bert Keelin Memorial Fund or Immanuel Baptist Church: Building Fund.
