He was predeceased by: his wife Diane Johnson; his children, Dena Johnson and William "Billy" Johnson Jr.; and his siblings, Edward, Robert, Harold and Dolly.

He is survived by: his daughter Deborah "Dean" Johnson; his niece Lisa "Andrew" Ries; his nephew Steve "Shannon" Menard; his grandchildren, Alexis Bolz, Jessica Beasley and Dean Beasley; and his sisters, Marie Jay and Arlene Odell.
