He was predeceased by: his parents, Elwood Kay and Mary Kay (Trione). He is survived by: his wife Marilyn (Lemons); his children, Kenneth E. Kay and Leanna Sawyer (John); his grandchildren, Brendan Clark, Bradley Clark (Hayley), Jennifer Sawyer, Emily Sawyer and Daniel Sawyer; his great grandchild AJ Clark; and his sister Loretta Giacoletto (Dominic). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Memorials are suggested to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, CUSD #7 High School Band or Gillespie United Methodist Church.
