He is survived by: his wife Anita Garwick; his sons, Kevin Thies (Sandi) and Kerry Thies (Traci); his half-siblings, David Thies, Carol Simon and Sharon Carroll; his grandchildren, Nathan Thies, Paige Thies and Gracie Thies; and his stepgrandson Michael Drane.
