It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Martin Hughes of Belvidere, Illinois, who passed away on December 1, 2024, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his spouse Romagean Personne Hughes; his children, Joseph Jr. (Michelle), Cynthia Schlessinger (Gideon), James (Debi), Timothy, Kathleen Greetis (Adam) and Brian; his grandchildren, Alexandra, Jackson, Matthew, Harrison, Emilia, Elena, Orly, Jordan of Jameson Patrick, McKaileigh, Charlotte "Charlie", Daniel, Abigail, Martin, Sean, William, Ellis, Josie and Maddy; and his siblings, Bill (Pat), Tom (Joanne), Mary (late George) and Leo (Carol). He was also cherished by many nieces & nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, December 8th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Hultgren Funeral Home (304 N Main St, Wheaton, IL 60187). A funeral Mass was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the St. Daniel the Prophet Catholic Church (101 W Loop Rd, Wheaton, IL 60189). The military honors was held on Monday, December 9th 2024 at the St. Michael Cemetery (1109 Warrenville Rd, Wheaton, IL 60187).
