He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Young and Margaret Young; his sister Ruth Poppe; and his brothers-in-law, Tom Crimin, Dale McFarland and Robert Poppe.
He is survived by: his children, John Young (Ann Dempsey), Joan Tenney (Shannon) and Jean Young; his grandchildren, Stephen Tenney (Laura), Sarah Tenney, Rachel Tenney, Rebecca Thomas (Tyler), John Michael Young (Kelsey), Gloria Kok (Josh), Arthur Young and Andrea Werner; his great grandchildren, Parker and Lukas Young; and his sisters, Ann Young and Eleanor McFarland.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Crosspoint Church (formerly Temple Baptist Church) or OSF Hospice.
