He was predeceased by : his wife Alice Kathryn Coulter; his parents, Helen Bein and Otto Bein; his sister Lois Freeman; his brothers-in-law, Dr. Bruce Freeman and Dr. Donald Ferris; and his granddaughter Erica Ruth Mercer.
He is survived by : his children, Miriam Mercer (Jim), Marti Bein (Steve Larsen) and Paul Bein (LaVon). He is also survived by nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
