Dale K. Winkelman Obituary

Dale Keith Winkelman "Wink" age 75 of the town of Vernon lost his battle with Leukemia on February 20, 2022, with his daughters by his side.

Dale was born November 22, 1946 to the late Myrtle Winkelman (Jones) and Chester Winkelman of Belvidere, IL. He married Theresa Schrader on February 15, 1969. They were married for just short of 50 years before she preceded him in death in 2018. He graduated from Belvidere High School in 1964, Illinois state in 1968, and earned a master's degree in education from UW Whitewater in 1976.

Dale touched many lives while serving as the head of the science department at New Berlin Eisenhower High school. He taught biology and A.P. Biology for 35 years. He was also the varsity swim coach and yearbook advisor for many years.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing with his longtime friend Rick Witte and later with his grandchildren. Nothing brought him more joy than watching the ducks fly in each morning from the porch of his lake home in Fox lake, WI. Some of his favorite times were spent at the lake with his family and grandkids.

He is survived by his daughters, Nikki (David) Zimmerman of Mukwonago and Wendy (John) Byrnes of Fort Atkinson, WI, brother Gordon (Anita) Winkelman of Tucson, Az, grandchildren Jacob, Justin, Tessa, and Brady as well as other relatives and friends.

A private celebration of life will be held this summer.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations in remembrance of Dale be sent to the Fox Lake Preservation Organization.
