He was predeceased by: his mother Birdine Neal (Hamilton Keelen) of Belle Rive, Illinois.; his stepfather John Harley Neal; his sister Janet Vineyard (Keelen); his parents-in-law, Clarence Barton and Mary Barton; and his brother-in-law David Barton.
He is survived by: his wife Judy Barton Keelen; his daughter Natalie Elam (Keelen); his son-in-law Kit Elam of Bloomington, Indiana; his son Nick Keelen of Belvidere, Illinois; his grandchildren, Lachlan and Isla Elam; and his parents-in-law, Linda Barton of Palm Coast, Florida, Peggy Harris (Kirk) of Benton, Illinois, Rick Barton (Janet) of Mt. Zion, Illinois and Hal Miller (Janice) of La Grange. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and their children.
