He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Carmickle and Lauretta Carmickle; and his siblings, Gary Gill and Virla Leggs. He is survived by: his daughters, Christina Wessels and Charlotte Meier; his granddaughters, Meagan Jones and Madison Wessels; his great grandchild Jaela English; and his sister Sue Ann Pfaffinger (Michael). He is also survived by niece, and two nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family which will be given to a veterans service organization.
