He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Dewey Benton Miller and Doris Elizabeth Miller (Osborne); his former wife Donna Marie LeMere of Egg Harbor; his daughter Ann Miller; his wife Victoria Dirst; his son Steven Miller; his grandchildren, Zachary Miller and Roxanne Miller; his sister Marilyn DeJonge (David); and his grandchildren, Talhia Heroux and Bo Miller Johnson.

For their act of heroism, they were awarded the Award of Valor from Fort Howard Paper Foundation.
