She was predeceased by: her parents, John D. Breeze and Mary Maxey (Bundy); and her stepfather Noble Maxey. She is survived by: her husband Charles A. LaFever; her children, Michelle Vincent (Brian) of Tennessee, Brian LaFever (Ellen) of Phillipines and Tracy Byrd (Marlon) of Michigan; her grandchildren, Chad Pfeffer (Amy), Joshua LaFever, Katie LaFever (Daniel), R. J. Ramos (Katrin), Marielle Avery Ramos, Mary Yielen Ramos, Daniel Byrd and Colette Byrd; her great grandchildren, Lilianna, Rosemary Pfeffer and Euno Ramos; and her siblings, Lois Johnson and Bill Breeze (Marilyn). She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made in Melba's honor to Mount Olive General Baptist Church.
