He was predeceased by: his parents, Lula Karstensen and Unruh; his spouse Ferne Storbeck; and his siblings, Marie Marsh (Martin), Irvin Karstensen (Arlene), Arno Karstensen, Raymond Karstensen (Carmie), Vernon Karstensen (Eileen) and Wayne Karstensen (Delores).
He is survived by: his children, Darceta Mueller (late Russell) of Momence, IL, Richard, Marsha Karstensen of Clarkston, MI and Jayne Biesterfeld of Beecher, IL; his brother Walter Karstensen of Crown Point, IN; his sister-in-law Carol R. Meyer of Beecher, IL.; his grandchildren, Rachel Bormet (Carl), Kirsten Bishir (Rob), John Mueller (Kristy), Nicholas Karstensen (Emily), Jennifer Reynolds (Jason), Sarah Goulding (Matthew) and Daniel Biesterfeld; and his great grandchildren, Carl, Paul, Jacob, Hannah, Henrik, Luke, Greta, Miles, Jamison and Arabella. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
At the request of family, they request that a face mask or covering be used at the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John Ev. Lutheran Church or the Lutheran Hour.
